For those who already know South Bay, sweet. For those who don’t—did you watch HBO’s Insecure? Bless Issa Rae for showing the world of South Bay, or more specifically, Inglewood. (Also a fun fact: Quite a few celebs live in South Bay to get away from Hollywood for more privacy here.)
This region of LA is named after its proximity to the Santa Monica Bay, and the areas here can be quite varying. Sure, the 405 is a pain, but on the plus side it’s 10 degrees cooler with the ocean breeze, so you can skip the AC and just crack open a window. Being super close to the ocean also means you can actually enjoy the beach, surf or snorkel, rollerblade on the boardwalk, and cruise the PCH like a true Californian.
When considering Inglewood, Torrance, Gardena, Carson, or Hawthorne, these neighborhoods are popular for their decently sized single-family homes and suburban feel, while still being within reach for many first-time homebuyers. But move south toward the ocean into Rancho Palos Verdes, and you’re in a completely different ball game. Opulent homes (or mansions) here can have breathtaking views of the ocean and feel luxuriously removed from the rest of LA, reminiscent of being on a neverending resort getaway. Whether you’re looking to buy in the Beach Cities, Peninsula, or the inland cities of South Bay, rest assured there’s going to be something you’re looking for with varying home types and home sale prices throughout the region.
